They have a pleasant, happy and sensitive personality. The Standard Poodle tends to be a bit calmer than the Miniature Poodle and or Toy Poodle just because of their size. One most important thing is that they need to be with people and dislike being alone. There is no use in getting a Standard Poodle if you just want a dog to have outside as a status symbol. As with all breeds the Standard Poodle should be properly socialized to insure a stable and balanced temperament. Most Standard Poodles make great watchdogs and some even have mild protective instincts. Their attitude toward s people varies from friendly to politely reserved. Early socialization is a must to avoid any bad traits arising. In Australia the Standard Poodle is one of the three varieties of the Poodle breed, the other two being the Toy Poodle and the Miniature Poodle.
